PERSONALITY

Born of the cold abodes of Urzakar, a domain ruled by the Fire God Vhorak, Maelior's character exists as a stark contrast to the fiery ideals of ego, will, and self-determination. In this world, humans are comprised of the four primary elements: Fire (the core/heart - representing human's Will), Water (the blood - representing human's Bonds), Wind (the mind - representing human's Intellect), and Earth (the flesh - representing human's Physical Body). But Maelior is actually an elemental outlier, where he is not like any other human, since he is completely without Fire while being ruled by Water even more than anyone else. Without an inner flame, he comes to possess a personality of extremes: a man who is both intensely empathetic and attuned to others' needs, but with a profoundly self-abnegating deficiency. He is warm and approachable (but eerily distant): someone who is there for everyone but not for himself (he is "warm" because he understands the human condition, but coldly "detached" because he is not a member in it). Whereas other Urzakarians see his lack of Fire as a deficiency (especially since in Urzakar, where the climate is very harsh to the year-long winter, it is believed that a strong individual will is needed to survive), Maelior himself sees the hollow center of himself with a hushed, placid indifference (he can seem "floaty" to people who don't know him well, if that makes sense).

Despite being the eldest among his group, Maelior (passively) rejects the typical role of a leader. He's not ambitious to command, but he's almost instinctively nurturing. Grounded in the principle of the Water element that bonds are the highest form of existence, he approaches strangers and companions alike with a soft yet reserved friendliness. His distance has no connection to a self-protective instinct, just a basic absence of a "self" to share (he does not know where his emotions stop and someone else's begins). This also led him to being a pacifist, one so conflict-avoidant that he would rather endure extreme personal suffering than engage in a direct confrontation.

Having no ego, Maelior tends to reflect what all of the others in his life are feeling and going through. This makes him the ultimate confidant but also means he can feel "empty" when by himself (or in so-called rare times he cannot read and mirror back the other person, especially when the other person confronts him about this). He's the "mom" of the group, where he'll provide support but he won't tell anyone what to do, so he'll always have anyone else take the lead i.e. he provides the "blood" (Water/Life) for the group, but relies on others' service to carry the "heart" (Fire/Drive).

APPEARANCE

Maelior has a youthful, slightly androgynous look with a slim build and soft facial features (despite being the oldest of the group, he stands at 164cm and weighs at around 58kg, which makes him look younger than he actually is). His black hair is styled in a slightly tousled, side-swept cut that frames the face. His skin tone is warm medium-brown, and his eyes are large and expressive, with eyelashes that are relatively long for a man.

He wears a simple pastel pink tunic that is [almost] knee-length, with wide sleeves and blue geometric trim along the neckline, cuffs, and hem. The gold pattern below the neckline is actually part of the tunic, not an external accessory. Underneath, he wears a fitted black high-collar sleeveless undershirt (which actually reveals his belly), fingerless gloves, and leggings. There is a thin belt with a small circular ornament at the waist.

His accessories include light-colored bracelets and anklets. The sandals are thick-soled.
